To say the least, 2011 is starting off as an interesting year for the Nation of Islam.
Last week's Saviour's Day convention, Minister Louis Farrakhan made multiple comments that offended some and satisfied others. He made a controversial comment regarding Rihanna, which caused her to reply with a sarcastic tweet. And then he talked about how L. Ron Hubbard created scientology to help "civilize white people."
And all I heard was "Wonk, wonk, wonk, wonk." You know why? Because it's too late in the evening for controversy. We need COLLABORATION--within the human race. But that can never happen because people of color (black, brown, and yellow) are always divided on whether we should become integrated or isolated within American society.
Let's be truthful. For someone with just a high school education, Minister Farrakhan has attained more intellectual prowess than most of the professors at our Ivy League institutions. His charisma is something that could be considered unique and God-given. Unfortunately, his likability tends to balance with the dark side of his personality.
All of us have a DARK SIDE. Even the nice sweet church lady (who never curses, gossips, or complains has a dark side). It's the part of human nature that can only be seen if you take someone out of their comfort zone. Some people are easily pushed out of their zone, while others must really become agitated to show you their "other side."
Whether or not Farrakhan is being truthful about Jews, I am angered more that once again he ignores the issues that really matter to me--someone in his own race. We shouldn't have to depend on the police to make communities safer. The FOI (Fruit of Islam) could easily use their security techniques in OUR communities. They should've done that YEARS AGO, but they are so busy guarding their leader that the rest of us are bird food.
Mr. Farrakhan has become a man that I love and one that I dislike. I can't explain it.
He's charming on one end and he's mean spirited on the other. That's why it's hard for me to have a true opinion of him.
What do you all think?
